How much does a website cost in Singapore?

The honest answer is "it depends", so this guide explains what it depends on. You will see what drives website cost, what our own prices include, and the running costs people forget to budget for.

Ask five agencies in Singapore what a website costs and you can get five very different numbers. That is not always overcharging or underpricing. Websites differ a lot in size, features and how much work the agency does on content and SEO. Once you know what drives the price, you can compare quotes properly and avoid paying for things you do not need, or skipping things you do.

Our prices, for reference

We only quote our own figures here, because we cannot speak for anyone else's:

What drives the cost of a website

Number of pages

Each page needs design, content and SEO work. A 5-page site (home, services, about, contact and one more) is a very different job from a 30-page site with a page for every service and area. More pages usually means more chances to rank, but only if each page has something useful to say.

Custom design vs a template

A bought template is cheap to start but often heavy, generic and hard to change. Custom design costs more up front but fits your brand and content, and can be built to load fast.

Who writes the content

Content is the most underestimated cost. If you supply finished text and photos, the build is faster. If the agency writes the copy, plans pages around search terms and sources images, that is real work and it should show up in the quote.

Features and integrations

Booking systems, online payments, member logins, multiple languages and connections to other software all add time. An online shop is a bigger project than a brochure site, which is why we quote shops separately.

Moving an existing website

If you already have a site with Google rankings, moving it safely means mapping every old URL to a new one with 301 redirects. Skip that step and you can lose traffic you spent years building. Our guide to WordPress vs a static site covers why many businesses move.

SEO and speed work

Some quotes include proper on-page SEO, schema markup and speed optimisation. Others include "SEO-friendly" in the feature list and very little behind it. Ask exactly what is done.

Running costs to budget for

The build is a one-off cost, but every website has some ongoing costs. Ask for these in writing before you start.

  • Domain name: renewed every year with your registrar. A .com.sg domain needs a Singapore-registered business.
  • Hosting: varies a lot. Our lightweight sites cost nothing to host beyond the domain for most small businesses. WordPress hosting is usually a monthly fee.
  • Plugins and themes: many WordPress sites pay yearly licences for premium plugins and themes. Our sites do not use plugins.
  • Email: business email such as Google Workspace is a separate monthly cost, if you want it.
  • Updates and changes: find out who makes changes after launch and how they are charged.
  • Monthly SEO (optional): ongoing Google Business Profile management, content and reporting.

How to compare website quotes

  1. Check that both quotes cover the same number of pages and the same features.
  2. Ask who writes the content and who sources the photos.
  3. Ask what SEO work is included, specifically: titles, schema, sitemap, Search Console, redirects.
  4. Ask who owns the domain, the code and the content when the project ends.
  5. Ask for the yearly running costs in writing.
  6. Ask how fast the finished site will load on a phone, and how they will prove it. Our website speed guide shows you how to test it yourself.

Payment terms

For our projects: 50% deposit to start and 50% before launch, with third-party costs such as your domain paid at cost and confirmed in the quote. Whoever you choose, avoid paying 100% up front for a large project.
